To all of you who are seeking relief from hip pain.

My name is Robert B. Carson and I am a former sufferer of chronic hip pain.

In the summer of 2005 I travelled to Thailand with the intention of undergoing conventional hip surgery at the Bum Run Grad hospital in Bangkok. It was the evening before my scheduled hip surgery when I was watching the television in my hospital room.

The program being aired (coincidentally enough) was a special report on what was at that time a new corrective procedure for hip patients.

The new procedure being examined was Hip Resurfacing.

The program went into great detail regarding the advantages of hip resurfacing over conventional hip replacement. At this time the resurfacing procedure was not being performed in Thailand or the U.S. and there was a minimum two year waiting period for the procedure in the U.K. where it was originally developed.
At this point the program introduced India as a very good / practical alternative to waiting the two years required by the British heath care system. As I was already in Asia I began taking notes and on the various Indian hospitals that were being introduced.
By the end of the program I was so impressed that I immediately contacted friends who were then living in Mumbai. I requested that my friends provide me with the contact info for the best orthopaedic surgeon in Mumbai. Within less than two hours I was speaking directly with Dr. Ameet Pispati who is the main Hip and Knee surgeon at the Jaslok hospital.
Dr. Pispati as it turned out was also instrumental in the early stages of development of hip resurfacing. Dr.Pispati actually studied and worked under the inventor of the procedure / prosthesis and had by that time performed hundreds of successful resurfacing procedures.
Dr. Pispati was very frank in his explanation of the differences and advantages of hip resurfacing over conventional hip replacement. The doctor was also very honest regarding the risks. Dr. Pispati's explanation and manner were so compelling that I cancelled my Bangkok surgery that very evening. The following morning I left the Bum Run Grad hospital and went directly to the Indian consulate where I acquired an emergency medical visa. Within 24 hours I was in Dr. Pispati's capable hands. The surgery was a complete success and I was actually walking with crutches the following day and without any walking aids in a few weeks. I will also mention that my stay in the Jaslok hospital was excellent. The hospital staff were all kind, compassionate and professional.
During by brief post-op recovery stay in the Jaslok hospital, I wanted for nothing.
It is now 2010, five years after my hip resurfacing and my only regret is not having met Dr.Pispati sooner. I am not a doctor myself and cannot guarantee that resurfacing is the best solution for every case of hip pain.
I can say with certainty that Dr.Pispati is the right man to seek a medical opinion from and to get a surgery from.
I sincerely hope that you all find the best remedy for your ailing hip conditions and I also hope that you find my testimonial to be both helpful and informative.
